COLLABORATIONS

Collaborating with like-minded artists allows me to pursue interests beyond filmmaking. It enables me to learn about new cultures and mediums, which expands my own body of work and technical abilities.

Breakfast Table

An ongoing multi-media art installation at the Archives at the National Centre for Biological Sciences in Bangalore, India.

This body of work is created in collaboration with artist/researcher, Pragya Bhargava, and illustrator/art designer, Aparajitha Vaasudev.

This is an immersive art exhibition that combines moving images, sound, interactive artwork, paintings, embroidery, and sculpture. It talks about the relationship between food and economy, society, culture, and gender in the South Asian context.

Filming with Sashawhyy

Sasha is a contemporary installation and sculpture artist. Our shared dedication to self-discovery via our respective artistic practices enables us to collaborate frequently.

Space 118 Grant

As part of a grant that Sasha received from Space 118, he created six artworks using fluid acrylic paints.

One of the themes that he was working with was Chaos and Order. I resonated with his concept and created this film which is now displayed on Space 118’s web presence, as a promo for his artworks and process.

Better Photography for The Wait Time Project

This is a Public Art Project made in collaboration with Sasha, @artintransit_bangalore & @urban.poetics.

It is a three minute film projected in Cubbon Park Metro Station, Bangalore to provide opportunities to learn in otherwise blank daily spaces

Music videos with artists in Kashmir

Filming music videos with Kashmiri artists exposed me to the difficulties that young people face in a disputed border area in South Asia, the impact of armed conflict on their mental health, and how they use music and art to express themselves.

Roakh Posh

One of the first friends I made in Kashmir during my stint there is Ali Saffudin, a musician with a relentless passion for his motherland. This music video, very close to my heart, was my first collaboration with Ali.

We shot this video during the winter of 2018, in a village called Reinzpal in Pahalgam, J&K. My friend Raja Nouman accompanied me on the shoot and made the whole experience a walk in the park for me. My producer, Khawar Jamsheed, gave me unconditional logistical and moral support.

This song is written and performed in the Kashmiri language, and it talks about the power of love.

Asaan Gindaan

A music video collaboration between NC Fazil (filmmaker from Kerela), Ali Saffudin (musician from Kashmir) Syed Shahriyar (cinematographer from Kashmir), and myself.

This song is about the Kashmir valley's natural beauty and the artist's longing for it to be protected.

Ironically, this music video was published right before the Government of India abrogated Article 370 of the Indian constitution on August 5th, 2019, shutting down communication in the region for months and allowing for geographical, cultural, and environmental changes to the eco-sensitive disputed region.

Suyash Does Football

When my school-time friend quit his nine-to-five to venture independently as a sports commentator and presenter, I jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with him on sports videos.

Suyash and I collaborate with Football teams and digital platforms to create discourse around sports through multimedia.

Here is our collaboration with a popular Indian Football Club, Real Kashmir FC.
